We are seeking an innovative, creative, dedicated, and energetic individual with the necessary skills and experience to join our dynamic staff team from 1 January 2022, in the following position:

School Counsellor / Educational Psychologist


  • Must have the relevant qualifications and be registered with a professional body
  • Inspirational, organised and energetic
  • Well-developed inter-personal skills with the ability to coordinate and work with other professionals on the multi-disciplinary learning team
  • Experience in working with children and families and preferably within a primary school and pre-primary school context
  • Knowledge of the Children’s Act, and its application in schools.
  • Have clinical training and experience (in Social Work or Psychology)
  • Have a sound, practically-based understanding of child development and the emotional and relational needs of primary schools and pre-primary school children
  • Ability to guide and counsel pupils, staff and parents with sensitivity and understanding
  • Be able to counsel in groups and in an individual setting
  • Be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the WPPS Support Unit
  • Strong communication and networking skills
  • A good command of written and spoken English
  • Current police clearance certificate
  • A proven track record of excellence, integrity and professionalism
