St Mary’s School in Waverley, is an independent Anglican School for girls,

We invite applications for the following post:

SCHOOL CHAPLAIN
(to commence duty on 1 July 2021)

We are seeking an Anglican priest who will provide leadership to the Christian life of the school, both formally in the services that are held in the school chapel, and informally within the St Mary’s community. This is a senior appointment and it is expected that applicants will have had experience in ministry.

The chaplain will be licensed by the Bishop of Johannesburg.

The successful applicant must have appropriate theological qualifications.

The ability to communicate effectively with young people, members of staff
and the wider community is essential.

Duties will include, but are not limited to,

  • the spiritual and pastoral care of the St Mary’s girls and school family
  • teaching divinity and confirmation classes
  • supervising the school divinity programme
  • arranging and leading the chapel services
  • working together with the head of school and the executive and management teams
  • involvement in the life of the school

The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic Christian, who exhibits a Godly love and character, is of strong faith and possess spiritual gifts of pastoring, teaching and leading.
