Michael Oak is a progressive independent school founded in 1962 to further Waldorf education in South Africa. The school has 425 learners spread across a kindergarten, primary and high school.
As a consequence of re-organizing and long-term succession planning, the School Board seeks to appoint a creative, collaborative and inspired person to serve as the School Administrator. This is an important leadership role, is central to the healthy functioning of the school and comprises the following key areas of responsibility:
Management of the school administration team which includes finance, HR/payroll, enrollments, marketing/PR, facilities, secretaries;
Formally collaborate with the College of Teachers to ensure the smooth operation of the school. This includes ensuring curriculum delivery, management of the school calendar and events, teacher resourcing and capacity building, school assessments;
Reporting to the Board of Trustee on all school matters.
The School Administrator is accountable to the Board of Trustees and supported by a strong administration team. The ideal candidate will have solid school administration/ management experience and a proven track record in team leadership and stakeholder management. Other preferable attributes include: BCom, BCompt or appropriate degree, experience in Pastel accounting and Pastel payroll, advanced computer skills, HR skills and an openness to learning about Waldorf education.
