SAHETI ALUMNI COMMUNITY OFFICER

COMMENCEMENT DATE: BY AGREEMENT

SAHETI School is an independent, co-educational, English-medium school dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, whilst promoting the values and ethos of Hellenism. The school is situated in Bedfordview, Johannesburg.

The purpose of this position is to continue to develop and maintain an effective and active Alumni community and to cultivate and enhance Alumni engagement and contribution to the life of SAHETI, thus engendering long-term relationships.

The SAHETI Alumni Community Officer communicates with all past or future Alumni of SAHETI School. This person is responsible for monitoring and growing the Alumni network. The role includes the development of communication and information capabilities.

The responsible person, together with the Alumni Committee, and the school’s structures develops systems and functions that provide opportunities for Alumni to actively engage with the Alumni Community, the SAHETI Institute and the school, the aim being to build visibility and sustainable involvement with all Alumni stakeholders.

Job Description:

  • Manage, update and develop opportunities with Alumni across a broad range of social media platforms.
  • Develop and manage programmes aimed at increasing Alumni interest.
  • Develop and manage plans aimed at increasing Alumni participation and engagement.
  • Manage and oversee Alumni functions and events.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding the functioning and development of the Alumni community.
  • Identify, engage, and activate the various Alumni community year groups and interest groups through organising functions and reunions, amongst others.
  • Coordinate and maintain the functioning of the Alumni Committee.
  • Implement strategic plans of the Alumni Committee under the guidance of the Chairperson of the Alumni Association and input of the Executive Head.
  • Maintain, develop, and continually update the database of SAHETI Alumni and Alumni interest groups.
  • Profile and highlight Alumni through their achievements amongst the SAHETI Alumni and the broader community.
  • Develop relationships with all parts of SAHETI School in particular harnessing and promoting direct and value-added Alumni engagement.
  • Arrange, co-ordinate and manage representation of the Alumni Association at SAHETI events and develop and implement marketing plans suited to such events so as to increase participation and involvement by Alumni.
  • Motivate and establish Alumni and associated community groups as well as individuals to become donors to the Alumni Association’ sactivities and fund-raising events.
  • Manage administration and sales of the Alumni Association Second-Hand clothing and book shop and pursue opportunities for the further expansion of the uniform and allied offering.
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget and associated information of the Alumni Association.
  • Prepare reports on the progress and functioning of the Alumni Association and all other Alumni associated administrative duties.
  • Engage with the Executive Head and other members of management on all aspects of the Alumni Community relationship with the school.

Competencies

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (a marketing background would be an advantage)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and the ability to manage and network through social media platforms.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Computer and associated literacy.
  • Strong management capabilities
  • Understanding and appreciation of community history and dynamics
  • Superior interpersonal skills.
