We are seeking an experienced Remedial Therapist to join our team and provide tailored support to students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about empowering students to overcome learning barriers and reach their full potential through targeted intervention and collaborative support.

The successful candidate will play a key role in assessing, planning, and implementing individualised remedial programs to support students experiencing academic challenges. They will work closely with teachers, parents, and other specialists to create inclusive learning environments that foster confidence, growth, and success.

Main responsibilities

  • Have the ability to run an independent practice, including billing parents directly
  • Assess boys (Grades 3 to 7) to identify specific learning needs
  • Develop personalised intervention plans
  • Report-writing
  • Provide one-on-one remedial therapy sessions focused on skill enhancement in Literacy and Mathematics and other key academic areas
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to align support strategies
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement therapeutic strategies in the classroom
  • Support the collaborative structure of the Learning support team
  • Monitor the boys’ progress and adjust interventions as needed
  • Manage and maintain pupil records – consolidating data from the therapy sessions
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child’s development and strategies for support

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant Postgraduate degree or certification in Remedial Therapy, Special Education, Inclusive Education or a related field
  • Registration with SACE

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Remedial Therapist in a primary school setting
  • Experience with a strong knowledge base on learning difficulties and effective therapeutic interventions
  • Experience with assessment tools and techniques for identifying learning needs
