Registered Nurse
Cornwall Hill College, a co-educational independent school situated in Irene, Centurion, which is in need of a Registered Nurse for our sickbay. The school services 1864 school pupils from age 3 to 19 as well as 280 staff members. We pride ourselves on providing a caring and welcoming atmosphere. We are looking for a professional with a friendly attitude and the ability to multitask to serve and fit our school’s environment successfully. The working hours will be Monday to Friday: 07:00 – 16:00. The successful candidate will report to the Health Coordinator. Commencement date: 1 July 2023.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Attend to ill or injured staff members and pupils
- Responsible for the recording of all relevant consultations
- Dispense and administer medication.
- Maintain and order medication and medical inventory
- Manage injury on duties of staff, and report to the Workman’s Compensation Commissioner (COID)
- Book paramedics and First Aiders for sporting events
- Manage the health of the boarding students.
- Keep medical records, control acute and chronic medicine, and refer for medical treatment if necessary.
- Maintain financial records of wellness related matters.
- Report any reportable communicable diseases to Department of Health
- Responsible for medical and/or wellnesses communication with parent and teachers
THE FOLLOWING QUALITIES AND ABILITIES ARE ESSENTIAL:
- Code 8 driver’s license. Preferably own transport.
- Sound computer skills. (Gmail, Google Docs and Google Sheets)
- Fluent in English in both verbal and written communication.
- Strong people skills and good telephone etiquette.
- Be able to stay calm in stressful situations.
- Independent decision making.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Registered with the SANC and 5 years nursing experience.
- Dispensing licenses will be an advantage.
