Pridwin Preparatory School is a leading boys’ Prep School, situated in Melrose in Johannesburg. It is a non-denominational Christian day school with long-standing traditional values such as independence, responsibility, respect, empathy and leadership. We seek to appoint a School Psychologist who will report directly to the Executive Headmaster.

Starting Date: 1 January 2023

Responsibilities of the Psychologist include, but are not limited to:

  • Contributing to various meetings with Management, Staff, Support Team and Parents.
  • Assisting with the intake, application and admission of prospective boys.
  • Coordinating academic, social and emotional support in collaboration with the Support Team.
  • Providing specialist counselling services within a learning environment.
  • Proven experience in working with individuals and groups.
  • Involvement with the identification, application, training and coordination of accommodations.
  • Planning, participation and presentation of Staff Development sessions.
  • Proficiency in administration, scoring and interpretation of psychometric instruments.
  • Understanding the developmental, emotional, social and educational issues of children

The successful candidate should:

  • Have a qualification as a Psychologist and must be registered with HPCSA.
  • Have a thorough understanding of various barriers to learning and support requirements.
  • Possess proven qualities such as empathy, organisational skills, teamwork skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to work under pressure.
  • Aware of diverse ethnic, social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentations and proposals.
  • Commitment to personal growth and the development of others.
  • Have an appreciation of the traditions and Christian values of the school.
