Position Overview

This full-time position is designed to provide vital support to the Pretoria Campus Activities Coordinator while also playing a significant role in physical education, competitive swim programs, and co-curricular activities (CCAs). The PTA Campus PE, Swim, and CCA Assistant will have a broad range of responsibilities, from administrative and supervisory tasks to direct instruction and coaching, as well as serving as a teaching partner in the PE department. This position offers a unique opportunity for professional growth and skills development in a dynamic educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative, Supervisory, and Communications Support (33%)

  • Assist the Pretoria Campus Activities Coordinator in organizing and managing CCA programs, including maintaining schedules, tracking student participation, and coordinating with external CCA providers.
  • Communicate with parents, students, and staff regarding CCA schedules, events, and other relevant information.
  • Support logistical planning and execution of activities events, including field trips, sports days, and school assemblies.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as updating records, managing supplies, and preparing reports related to activities.

PE & Competitive Swim Instruction and Coaching (33%)

  • Serve as the primary instructor for all PE swim lessons for students in Grades PreK to 8 at the Pretoria Campus.
  • Collaborate with the PE department to co-plan swim units and develop engaging lesson plans that align with the school’s educational standards.
  • Act as the head coach for all competitive swim teams on the Pretoria campus, leading training sessions, preparing students for inter-school swim meets, and fostering a positive team environment.
  • Coordinate swim meet participation, including registrations and travel arrangements, while maintaining swim equipment and ensuring safety protocols.

PE Teaching Partner (33%)

  • Support PE teachers in delivering physical education lessons across all grade levels.
  • Assist in setting up and taking down equipment for PE classes.
  • Provide individual support to students during PE activities, helping them develop skills and confidence.
  • Help with the supervision and management of students during PE classes, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Participate in planning and evaluation meetings with PE staff to improve instructional practices.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Matric certificate is required. A degree or diploma in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in swim instruction, coaching, or managing sports programs is highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Proficiency in using technology for communication and organizational purposes.

Work Days: Monday through Friday 188 (one hundred and eighty eight) days per school year.
