St Charles College, founded in 1875, is an independent Christian Boys’ College situated in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, catering for day boys from Grade 000 to Matric with boarders from Grade 4 upwards. The College has written the University of Cambridge International IGCSE, AS Level and A Level Examinations since 2002.
Pre-Primary School Teacher
St Charles College is looking to employ a suitably qualified Pre-Primary School teacher commencing 1 January 2025. The College pursues its mission based upon core values and our staff are expected to have integrity and exercise sound judgement in line with the responsibility of educating boys.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Creating a positive and stimulating learning environment that fosters children’s growth and development in all areas.
- Planning and delivering age-appropriate lessons and activities.
- Providing a safe and nurturing environment conducive for young children to interact with others and help them with their daily needs, while encouraging them with their social and emotional development.
- Assessing and tracking children’s progress and providing open lines of communication with parents and caregivers to keep them informed.
Personal qualities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to develop positive relationships with parents, learners and colleagues.
- A friendly, dynamic, creative and passionate personality.
- An excellent work ethic.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A suitable professional qualification.
- A minimum of five to ten years’ experience in working with Pre-Primary school children within a Pre-Primary School setting.
- Knowledge and experience in the Time2Read programme.
- Understanding of the needs of boys and their specific learning requirements.
- Sound administrative ability and proficiency and creativity in using technology to enhance learning.
- An ability to work within the values, Christian ethos and mission of the College and a willingness to participate in the broader life of the school.
