Piano Teacher (Independent Contract)

An opportunity exists for an exceptional Piano Teacher as an Independent Contractor to join the school as soon as possible.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant diploma / degree in music
- Performers or Teachers Licentiate an advantage
- At least 5 years’ teaching experience
- Have experience working with the ABRSM and Trinity Syllabus
- Have experience teaching keyboard ensembles
- Knowledge of Contemporary and Jazz piano is an advantage
- Experience teaching piano from grade 0 to grade 7 an advantage
Candidates should have the following attributes:
- A clear love of music which they enthusiastically share with their students
- A willingness to perform with ensemble groups within the department at special occasions
- Have an extensive knowledge of suitable repertoire and teaching methodologies
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational and planning skills
- Be a dynamic team player
- A willingness to support and mentor, and to be mentored
- Prepared to work according to the school’s ethos, specification and policies
Duties (not an exhaustive list):
- Teach Music Theory
- Teach individual Piano lessons and keyboard ensembles
- Accompanying exam pupils and on occasion choir and/or events
- Teach according to the St Peter’s Prep Schools Best Practice pedagogy
