Piano Teacher (Independent Contract)

An opportunity exists for an exceptional Piano Teacher as an Independent Contractor to join the school as soon as possible.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant diploma / degree in music
  • Performers or Teachers Licentiate an advantage
  • At least 5 years’ teaching experience
  • Have experience working with the ABRSM and Trinity Syllabus
  • Have experience teaching keyboard ensembles
  • Knowledge of Contemporary and Jazz piano is an advantage
  • Experience teaching piano from grade 0 to grade 7 an advantage

Candidates should have the following attributes:

  • A clear love of music which they enthusiastically share with their students
  • A willingness to perform with ensemble groups within the department at special occasions
  • Have an extensive knowledge of suitable repertoire and teaching methodologies
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Be a dynamic team player
  • A willingness to support and mentor, and to be mentored
  • Prepared to work according to the school’s ethos, specification and policies

Duties (not an exhaustive list):

  • Teach Music Theory
  • Teach individual Piano lessons and keyboard ensembles
  • Accompanying exam pupils and on occasion choir and/or events
  • Teach according to the St Peter’s Prep Schools Best Practice pedagogy
