PAYROLL ADMINISTRATOR

(to start 1 January 2024 latest)

The German International School Cape Town (DSK) is a bilingual German school abroad, with learners and families from more than 40 countries. At the DSK, German (mother-tongue) is taught from Grade 1 – 12 (Abitur) and English-speaking learners are introduced to the German language from Grade 5 – 12 (Matric).

The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily duties for the payroll, including compilation of new employment contracts, various staff contract and payroll changes, processing of payroll on our software system (VIP Payroll/SAGE), and assisting staff and management with queries and requests. The role fits within, and has the support of, the HR Department within Finance and Administration.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Monthly payroll processing – beginning to end for employees (e.g. new hire, terminations, overtime, various benefits, etc.) currently +-150 employees
  • Maintain personnel files and records.
  • Employment contract preparation.
  • Interview support: screening applications and candidates, criteria check, interview coordination.
  • Assist with registering teachers with SACE or other relevant professional bodies.
  • Administer Pension Fund and Medical Aid contributions.
  • Analysis of data and preparation of various reports.
  • Minutes and report writing and general assistance as the team requires.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BCom, BTech or relevant certificates/diplomas in HR
  • minimum 2-3 years’ experience in payroll processing and administration with knowledge of HR and pa
  • VIP Payroll/SAGE experience
  • proficient, experienced, and knowledgeable of tax and legislation is essential.
  • familiarity with business software such as Microsoft Office and programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • excellent verbal and written communication
