Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Swimming Coach to join our athletic department. The successful candidate will be responsible for coaching, training, and developing our swimmers, fostering a positive and competitive environment, and promoting the values of sportsmanship and teamwork. The Swimming Coach will design and implement training programs, manage team practices, and lead the team in competitions.

Key Responsibilities:

Coaching and Training:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive training programs tailored to the skill levels of the swimmers.
  • Conduct regular practice sessions focusing on stroke technique, starts, turns, and finishes.
  • Provide individual and group coaching to enhance swimmers’ technical and tactical skills.
  • Monitor swimmers’ physical conditioning and mental preparation.

Team Management:

  • Plan and organize team practices, meets, and competitions.
  • Assess and evaluate swimmers’ performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Foster a positive team environment that encourages sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
  • Manage team logistics, including travel arrangements and equipment needs.

Swimmer Development:

  • Identify and nurture talent within the team, providing pathways for swimmer development and advancement.
  • Develop and implement individualized training plans for swimmers to address specific areas of improvement.
  • Monitor swimmers’ academic performance and support their overall well-being.

Competition and Strategy:

  • Develop race strategies and analyze opponents to prepare the team for competitions.
  • Lead the team during meets and competitions, making real-time decisions to enhance performance.
  • Review race footage and provide feedback to swimmers for continuous improvement.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate records of swimmer statistics, training sessions, and meet results.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, school administrators, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines governing school sports.

The ideal candidate must have the following qualities:

  • Relevant coaching qualification from a recognized institution and relevant safety training (e.g., CPR, First Aid).
  • At least 2 years related coaching experience and be able to work at both junior and senior level.
  • Involvement in the developing and implementing training programmes.
  • Full understanding of the latest coaching methodologies & trends.
  • Foster positive and encouraging environment for young athletes.
  • Must be flexible with working hours to accommodate training and match schedules.
  • Physical ability to demonstrate tennis techniques and participate in training sessions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; having a proven ability to work as part of a team.
  • Be self-motivated, organised, and energetic, and be able to promote physical fitness and sporting excellence.
  • Have an understanding of the Long-Term Athlete Development philosophy.
  • Have police clearance; sexual offenders’ clearance; and child protection clearance.
