Part-time Registered Nurse
A vacancy will become available at the South African Jockey Academy situated in Summerveld.
The Academy is looking to appoint a part-time nursing sister who will work in an environment of developing young elite sportsmen and women. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals who believe they have the required skills and competencies to take on this position preferably from 1 November 2024.
Applicants would need to have a strong sporting bias and an ability to work with adolescents.
Requirements of the post:
- Registered Nursing Sister with the Nursing Counsel
- Must be computer literate
- Should have the medical expertise to deal with dangerous sport injuries
- Valid driver’s license and own transport (a PDP would be an added advantage).
Post Functions:
- Provide on site assessment and first aid intervention of all staff and apprentices in work related accidents
- Provide Primary Healthcare
- Liaise with medical officer to close the medical legal requirement loop
- Run the concussion programme
- Communicate and submit all Workmen’s Compensation Claims with the Department of Labour
- Work with the Insurance Broker at the beginning of every year to get the apprentice insurance completed
- Co-ordinate the Health and Safety Committee of the Academy
- Provide a wellness clinic and emphasis on pro-active health and lifestyle for staff working at the Academy in order to reduce illness and manage existing health issues for staff working for the Academy
- Arrange Medical Aid for international apprentices
- Will be required to respond to emergency situations and call outs.
