PART TIME PRIMARY SCHOOL ISIXHOSA TEACHER & CLASS ASSISTANT
The Vine School is an independent primary school based in Lansdowne, Cape Town. The school offers a Christian environment to families who want excellent, inspirational education. We are looking for a qualified, specialist teacher who is passionate about teaching isiXhosa and willing to assist in the classrooms with handwork for Grade R to Grade 4.
The successful candidate must be willing to learn how to teach the language in accordance with the philosophy and pedagogy of Ambleside Schools International. Extensive, ongoing training is provided to facilitate all our teachers’ growth in this distinctive approach to education. The expectation is to teach 4 days a week from 07:45 – 13:00, which will include teaching conversational isiXhosa to children from Preschool to Grade 6, assisting during handwork lessons for Grade R to Grade 4 and doing break duty.

In joining our school you will become responsible for:
- learning how to teach according to Charlotte Mason’s philosophy of education
- teaching isiXhosa from preschool to Grade 6 in accordance with the Gouin method
- assisting teachers in the classroom with handwork for Grade R to Grade 4
- maintaining an optimal classroom atmosphere
- supporting proactive character formation
The ideal candidate for this job will have:
- an appropriate teaching qualification and SACE registration
- isiXhosa as a home language and a high level of English proficiency
- a testimony of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour
- a high emotional quotient (EQ) and strong relational wisdom
- mature ability to self-manage and quiet authority that insists on high standards from every student
- natural attention to detail and ability to empathise
