Operations Manager


An established Group of Schools situated in Kwa-Zulu Natal which fulfils a desperate need in the independent education market is seeking to fill the position of group operations manager.

The group currently has 1 500 learners who are situated on a campus in Hilton, Pietermaritzburg and another campus in Umlazi. The group is responsible for nurturing young minds, developing future leaders and responsible citizens in an ever-changing society. A major focus of the group apart from its core offering is the design and implementing of programmes to improve the financial literacy levels and entrepreneurial abilities for the South African market and beyond. The role of Operations Manager is to manage a team of dedicated staff who passionately offer world class education to their students.

Are You Someone Who Can

  • Efficiently manage School budgets in accordance with stated objectives and in line with company governance policies and BEE statutory requirements to ensure spend of budget to ensure efficiency.
  • Manage operations reporting and improve business decisions by providing accurate and reliable data, reports and insights, to inform business decisions and project management.
  • Effectively manage internal and external stakeholders, to build partnerships to support the sourcing of future enrolments whilst applying meaningful strategies to retain current enrolments.
  • Effectively manage the school management teams to ensure they achieve stated performance goals and ensure attainment of strategy.
  • Based on the stated regulation, can manage, provide guidance and oversight of identified key performance areas.
  • Source and manage internal and external stakeholders and vendors to achieve project objectives.
  • To manage and maintain a happy, healthy environment with all stakeholders.
  • Is deadline orientated and pays attention to micro issues concerning the business.
  • Ensure the flow of operations to your group managers and the board where applicable is accurate
  • Oversee the management of the school facilities to ensure that the properties are well maintained.
  • Develop a strategic and operational risk register to ensure risks are appropriately managed and mitigated
  • Reporting to the school’s board on the operational and financial performance of the school

You will be an ideal candidate if you have the following:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree, post graduate qualifications preferable in Business Management/ Accounting/ Finance.
  • The role requires experience in project management, content development, people management, and reporting. Preferably in the education and training sector or in a Learning and Development area.
  • Experience 5 years in a management role in stated sectors and/or similar.
  • People skills, resource allocation, process mapping and objectivity
