 Highbury is a boys’ Christian preparatory school which offers all-round, relevant and dynamic education within a caring environment, equipping its pupils with values, skills and knowledge to deal with the demands of a changing and challenging world.

An opportunity exists for an exceptional Music (Grades 4 – 7) and Drama (Grades 4 and 5) Teacher to join Highbury Preparatory School, inspiring boys in the cultural sphere and playing an integral part in maintaining our focus on holistic development. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished musician and versatile educator with a proven track record of innovation, strong communication skills, effective administration and the ability to evoke a love for the arts in their students. They will play a vital role in a number of areas, ranging from Chapel Services to Choir, from class music to school productions.

The successful candidate must:

  • have a suitable academic qualification and be registered with SACE
  • be in possession of a police and sexual offender’s clearance certificate
  • implement and maintain a diverse and inclusive learning environment
  • be a strong administrator and possess excellent organisational skills
  • have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in teaching Music and/or Drama (Art and Culture) within a school environment
  • have experience as a choirmaster/choirmistress, with any additional music groups e.g. marimbas being an advantage.
  • be willing to work as part of a team and assist with general duties as and when required.
  • play an active role in contributing to the spiritual life of our boys through music and song in Chapel Services.
  • be passionate about teaching boys and identify with the values and ethos of the school
