MIDDLE SCHOOL DESIGN TEACHER
Location: Redhill School (Grade 6-9)
Start Date: 1 July 2023 (Negotiable)
Redhill School is seeking a passionate and dynamic individual to join our dedicated faculty as a Middle School Design Teacher. As part of our International Middle Years Programme, design is considered a core subject, and we are committed to providing our students with a solid foundation in this area. We are looking for an innovative and creative teacher who can inspire our students and equip them with the skills and knowledge that will play a crucial role in their future job prospects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging design lessons to students in grades 6 to 9, fostering their creativity and critical thinking abilities.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes collaboration and active participation among students.
- Introduce students to various design concepts, tools, and techniques, encouraging them to explore and experiment with different mediums.
- Teach students how to conceptualize, plan, and execute design projects, emphasizing the importance of problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Integrate technology and digital tools into the design curriculum, keeping abreast of the latest advancements in the field.
- Provide constructive feedback and support to students, helping them develop their design skills and encouraging them to take risks and push their boundaries.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align the design curriculum with other subject areas, fostering interdisciplinary connections and promoting a holistic learning experience.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in design, visual arts, or a related field. An Honours degree is preferred.
- Previous teaching experience, preferably in middle school or a similar age group.
- Strong knowledge of design principles, including graphic design, product design, and spatial design.
- Proficiency in design software and tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite and 3D modeling software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and create a supportive learning environment.
- Passion for design and a commitment to staying updated on industry trends and advancements.
- Demonstrated ability to foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in students.
