Mathematics and Further Studies Mathematics Educator

 St Teresa’s School is a top independent girls’ school in Rosebank.  In our environment, we strive to let the young ladies in our care learn, grow and thrive. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and energetic Mathematics and Further Studies Mathematics Teacher to join our team of passionate teachers. This teacher will need to grow the Mathematics profile in our school and inspire students to take the subject and excel.

This is a full-time position.

The candidate must:

  • Be enthusiastic about growing the profile of Mathematics and Further Studies Mathematics in the school, have the skills to accomplish this, and be willing to work with teachers from across the different phases (Senior and Junior Primary) to develop young women who excel at Mathematics.
  • Be passionate about developing maths excellence in promising students, as well as foster a love for the subject in students who struggle.
  • Be willing to teach in a creative manner, embracing cognitive education and appropriate use of technology in the classroom.
  • Be willing to continue to grow and develop as a teacher, being flexible and open to feedback.
  • Have a collaborative spirit that enables working with teachers in other subjects, to continue building and developing our school’s academic offering.
  • Continue with support systems in place to help students in the subject.
  • Be SACE registered.
  • Have at least a BSc with PGCE or equivalent qualification.
  • Be experienced in teaching Mathematics and Further Studies Mathematics at Matric Level for at least 5 years.
  • Be suitably qualified and experienced in the subject, with IEB Matric experience (IEB marking experience will be an advantage), conversant in IEB, SAGS and CAPS.
  • Be prepared to participate as part of the Mathematics Department Team, involved in all relevant extra-murals.

The ideal candidate must be organised, enthusiastic and suited to teaching in a girls’ Catholic school and be fully committed to our Mercy ethos.
