St Benedict’s is an Independent Catholic School, which seeks to provide a holistic education for boys through full participation in spiritual, academic, sporting, creative and cultural activities. The Board of Governors invites applications for the following post in the College.

Maintenance Assistant

Requirements:

  • Suitably qualified candidates with relevant technical tertiary education
  • Must have at least 3 years’ relevant experience in maintaining a facility or building
  • Performing routine maintenance duties, including plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry, building, tiling, welding, painting and other repairs/maintenance to buildings
  • Completing minor repair work, which includes but not limited to repairing doors, locks, door frames, handles as well as replacing light bulbs, sockets, switches and windows
  • Effectively and expeditiously attend to maintenance requests in a timely manner
  • Providing technical assistance (electricity, water and other ad hoc tasks) during school functions
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations
  • Ensuring that all maintenance equipment is in good working condition
  • Be willing to participate in the Catholic Ethos of the School

Key Attributes and Competencies:

  • Strong technical and working knowledge of mechanical units (HVAC), electrical, building maintenance, carpentry, plumbing and safety
  • Physically fit – ability to bend, kneel, stoop, lift or move heavy equipment
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with others
  • Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations
  • Ability to solve practical problems using reasoning skills
