Organizational Description
The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (The Academy) is a world-class educational platform for girls that is aimed at nurturing a new generation of dynamic women leaders. This residential boarding school is situated in Meyerton, Gauteng Province, with just over 300 students enrolled in Grades 8 -12. Grade 12. Students write the Independent Examination Board (I.E.B.) NSC Examination.
Minimum academic requirements and experience
- A BEd degree with a specialisation in Creative/Dramatic Arts or a PGCE with professional experience in theatre or live performance.
- Proof of up-to-date registration with SACE.
- A minimum of three years of Dramatic Arts/Creative Arts teaching experience. This must include teaching Dramatic Arts to Grade 12s.
- The ability to assist/direct Dramatic Arts students (Grades 8-12) in their practical pieces.
- Thorough knowledge of CAPS is essential.
- Experience working within the IEB assessment framework will serve as an advantage.

- An understanding of teaching students who come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- A passion for inquiry-based, student-centered learning.
- An understanding of assessment frameworks in Creative Arts/Dramatic education.
- Knowledge of curriculum design and an ability to design the Creative Arts/Dramatic Arts curriculum.
- Working knowledge of the latest trends in education.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- An ability to work effectively as an individual and in teams.
- A commitment to personal growth and the development of others.
- Sound relationship-building skills.
- Effective time management.
- Analytical and critical thinking and writing skills.

- Execute all pastoral care, co-curricular, and extra-curricular duties as required by the Academy.

- Willingness to learn how to perform and direct Playback Theatre.
- Willingness to guide learners toward outside competition work – eisteddfod; 1 act play festivals etc.
- Experience within dance frameworks will serve as an added advantage (Choreography; Dance Instruction etc.)
- Act with the highest integrity and always uphold the Academy’s standards and values (Respect, Honour, Compassion, Service, Responsibility, and Accountability).
- Willingness to learn how to use and implement the Neurosequential Model in Education (NME) in your teaching.
