St John’s College is a world-class Christian, African school situated on a magnificent campus in Houghton, Johannesburg, offering quality education from nursery school to post-matric. The school has an outstanding academic record, entering candidates for the examinations of the IEB and the Cambridge A Levels.

We seek to appoint a passionate individual who demonstrates:

  • an understanding of the importance and relevance of Life Sciences, with strong subject knowledge and an eagerness to continue learning
  • an appreciation for an ethos where a balance exists between high academic achievement and a love of learning
  • an ability to inspire students through engaging and effective lessons whilst allowing flexibility for the development of appropriate and supportive relationships with students

The candidate must be creative, organised, disciplined and selfmotivated, with strong interpersonal skills.

Minimum requirements:

  • Relevant degree (BSc with subjects that allow for teaching Life Sciences. eg. Biological Sciences, Biology major or equivalent including Genetics and Biochemistry)
  • Two or more years grade 12 Life Sciences teaching experience
  • SACE registration or willingness to register

Desirable attributes:

  • Honours degree in Biological Sciences
  • IEB and Biology A Level teaching experience
