St Benedict’s is an Independent Catholic School which seeks to provide a holistic education for boys through full participation in spiritual, academic, sporting, creative and cultural activities. The Board of Governors invites applications for the following post in the Preparatory School.
Librarian and Media Centre Teacher
Have a recognised qualification in Library and Information Science, with at least three years working experience in an academic library; or a recognised teaching qualification with a proven track record of experience managing a library and media centre
Knowledge and experience of running of a circulation desk (issuing, renewal and returning of book loans)
Sorting and re-shelving returned books, periodicals and other materials
Have the ability to create a school-wide reading culture and foster a love for reading
Researching and sourcing new textbooks and online reading programmes for academic enrichment and support
Managing the library to provide the most effective resources to boys, staff and other users
Be willing and have the ability and experience to teach an academic subject at a Prep School level
High level of ICT competency, including the ability to teach information skills and digital citizenship
An understanding and appreciation of 21st Century Skills and the ability to design aligned learning experiences
Working knowledge of library methods and procedures; and archival practices
Knowledge in the use of library electronic databases and library management systems
Good communication skills essential to ensure that media work is current, relevant and curriculum aligned
SACE registration would be advantageous
Be willing to participate in the Catholic Ethos of the School
