Kingsmead College seeks to employ a full-time experienced, dynamic and progressive education specialist. As this is a management position, experience of working in a management position is preferable.
The Learning Support Specialist will ensure that the academic development of the girls from Grade 4-7 is prioritized. This is involves the management of the senior primary school-based support team as well as working with the external multi-disciplinary support team. This person will be responsible for the implementation and provision of support and accommodations for children with support and extension needs.
The requirements are as follows:
A suitable professional qualification and appropriate educational experience in Learning Support/Remedial Education.
Knowledge of and experience in an inclusive education environment at a primary school level.
Experience in classroom teaching as well as a willingness to teach in the Senior Primary.
An innovative approach for girls who learn differently. Expertise in the development and application of differentiated curriculum at all age levels.
Experience in working together with all stakeholders, including parents, staff, students, therapists and neighbouring schools .
A comprehensive understanding of cognitive education and the thinking skills embedded in the Kingsmead curriculum.
A willingness to research and apply best practice with regard to differentiation and girls’ education.
An ability to work as part of multidisciplinary, educational support teams.
A willingness to work together with class teachers in the implementation of differentiated curriculum
Excellent intrapersonal, communication and administrative skills.
