Learning/Academic Support Specialist
Fixed Term Contract Position
The College invites applications for the above-mentioned fixed term contract position, which will be available from 1 January 2023 (negotiable) until 31 December 2023, with a potential for renewal. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals who believe they have the required skills, passion, and competencies to take on this position.
Key competencies and responsibilities of this role include:
A recognised degree and/or a 4-year professional teaching qualification, as well as qualifications/formal training in remedial support, inclusive education, educational psychology and/or learning/academic support.
Suitable prior experience and training in learning/academic support and social and emotional learning programmes within schools is essential.
Willingness to embrace rapid changes in education, and an understanding of a responsive curriculum approach to learning, teaching and holistic support services.
Experience in student support case management and intervention. This includes developing and implementing individual support plan (ISPs), modified learning programmes (MLPs) and support interventions for students with barriers to learning and support needs.
Knowledge in creating varied and innovative intervention programmes for staff and parents.
Willingness to work with subject specialists to develop and implement interventions with high school students specifically in areas related to numeracy, literacy, and language development.
Interest in adolescent issues/challenges and an ability to build strong connections and relationships with students.
A commitment to our social-emotional learning and wellbeing programmes.
Ability to work effectively in a team and embrace a systemic and holistic approach to support.
Commitment to on-going personal and professional development.
Excellent organisational, time management and relational skills.
An interest and ability to integrate ICT and technology into learning, teaching and support.
Any staff member working within a school is required to have a sexual offender’s clearance certificate.
