This exciting opportunity exists for someone who would be dedicated to nurturing a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and development for all staff. The Human Resources Manager will report directly to the Lady Principal and will meet regularly with the Bursar, management teams and staff.

The successful incumbent must be willing to uphold the Chrisitan ethos of the school as they develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the school’s vision. The main objective is to oversee and effectively manage all facets of Human Resources. This encompasses a wide range of responsibilities and skills:

HR Administration

  • Have extensive knowledge of and the ability to implement and monitor Transformation and Employment Equity strategies.
  • Have experience in developing HR Policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance in safeguarding the organisation and its employees.
  • Oversee HR administrative functions, including maintaining employee records, processing payroll, managing time-off requests, and ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of HR data.
  • Oversee and manage the entire payroll function.

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Design and implement Talent Management Strategies to attract, develop and retain exceptional talent.
  • Lead recruitment efforts by collaborating with department heads to identify staffing needs, writing job descriptions, posting job openings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and making hiring recommendations.
  • Develop and implement effective onboarding processes to ensure new employees are integrated smoothly into the organisation and are equipped with the necessary resources and information to succeed.

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and resource for employees and management on HR-related issues, including performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
  • Foster positive employee relations by promoting open communication, addressing employee concerns, and resolving conflicts in a fair and timely manner.
  • Remaining up-to-date and well-informed about changes in employment legislation and industry best practices and update HR policies and procedures accordingly.

Training and Development

  • Extensive knowledge, implementation and monitoring of Skills Development and Training.
  • Identify training and development needs within the organisation and coordinate training programs to enhance employee skills, knowledge, and performance.
  • Support career development initiatives by providing employees with opportunities for growth and advancement within the organisation.

Employee Benefits and Compensation

  • Administer employee benefits programmes, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other fringe benefits, and serve as the primary point of contact for employee enquiries related to benefits.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of compensation strategies and salary structures to attract and retain top talent.
  • Design and implement Employee Wellness strategies.

Minimum requirements

  • Proficient in Payspace.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Proficient in Ed-Admin.
  • Preferably have five or more years’ experience in Human Resources in an educational environment.
  • Have an appropriate University degree and professional qualification.

   Knowledge and skills

  • Proven track record in Human Resources.
  • People-orientated and results-driven.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases.
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills.
  • Excellent listening and negotiation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of labour law and HR best practices.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivation and be capable of working effectively with a high degree of independence.
