Receptionist
We are looking for a Receptionist to join the Michaelhouse community commencing in January 2025. This is a varied position and will require the skills of a competent, deadline-driven multi-tasker. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth running of the main reception desk and performing a variety of administrative tasks, including administrative support to the Financial Director. We are looking for an organised, detail-orientated professional, with excellent administrative and interpersonal skills, who exudes a positive energy with a “can-do” attitude.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE, INTER ALIA:
- Manage reception area of the School including greeting visitors and directing them as necessary
- Provide daily operational, administrative, and secretarial support to the Financial Director
- Assist with communication to all stakeholders including BOG, Trustees, parents and staff
- Administration functions include:
- Calendar management
- Assistance with management reporting
- Event administration, organisation and coordination
- Venue, catering and accommodation booking for meetings/ workshops
- Assisting with booking of travel/ transport
- Preparation of Payment Request Forms (PRFs) for payments
- Various printing, filing and other related administration
- Assist with general school administration as well as half-term and holiday reception cover as required.
REQUIREMENTS: QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Matric with further studies is preferable
- A relevant administrative qualification or certification is advantageous
- At least 5-years previous experience in an administrative, finance or PA-type role
- Well-developed computer skills specifically MS Office knowledge: Outlook, Word, Powerpoint and Excel, data-capture and database management

IMPORTANT CONDITIONS:
- Benefits include: Company contributions to Medical Aid and Pension Fund and 30 days annual leave to be taken during school holidays.
- The requisite working hours are 07h30 – 16h00 Monday to Friday.
- Due to the nature of the role, it will be a requirement, on occasion, to work after hours and Saturdays for school events, or weekends for festivals as necessary.
- As accommodation is not provided onsite, this position would be best suited to someone with their own transport and already resident within reasonable travelling distance of Michaelhouse.
