HOUSE DIRECTOR: TSEBE HOUSE

St Alban’s College, one of South Africa’s leading independent boys’ boarding and day schools in Pretoria, seeks to appoint a suitable individual with remarkable talent and character to fill this key management and leadership role in the College.

St Alban’s is building a new, state-of-the-art boarding establishment which will be completed in January 2024 and the individual who is appointed to this position will have the singular privilege of establishing the 4th boarding house, which will be named Tsebe House after Canon John Tsebe who was a founder member of the College Council.

The House Director is responsible for the Tutor system within the House, will report to the Senior House Director and the Deputy Headmaster (Pastoral Affairs) and will be a member of the House Directors Committee.

The successful candidate will have:

  • excellent management and organisational skills, inter-personal and communication skills, and a high level of self-motivation
  • superior administration skills * a passion for growing young men
  • resilience, flexibility, energy and enthusiasm for solving problems and being innovative
  • an understanding of the Christian ethos and values of the school
  • an optimistic, warm, nurturing disposition
  • the ability to collaborate and create systems and protocols which allow for accountability and self-discipline amongst boys in all Houses
  • have a keen understanding of the concept of Duty of Care within the boarding environment
  •  a suitable professional qualification, preferably post-graduate, as well as a SACE registration, are mandatory.

Teaching in the formal curriculum and experience in running a boarding establishment would be advantageous.
