HIGH SCHOOL HEAD OF CULTURE MUSIC TEACHER
Founded in 1877, Durban Girls’ College is a leading independent Christian girls’ school with a proud history, which offers an innovative, forward looking and relevant education for girls from Grade 00 to Matric.
The Head of Culture will lead and manage the cultural program at Durban Girls’ College, fostering a vibrant and inclusive cultural environment with a strong focus on music. They will oversee all cultural activities, ensure alignment with the school’s mission and vision, and inspire students to participate in and excel in cultural pursuits.
The successful candidate will be:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music/Education/Performing Arts, or a related field (postgraduate qualification is an advantage)
- SACE registered
- Develop and implement a comprehensive music, drama, visual arts and other cultural discipline, that will cater to students interests and talents
- Experience in teaching or conducting music ensembles, choirs, or bands would be an advantage
- Leadership experience in an educational or cultural environment
- Plan / coordinate musical events such as concerts, productions, exhibitions
- Build relationships with music academies, cultural institutions enhancing program offerings
- Engage with parents, alumni, and the broader community to promote cultural initiatives and secure support or sponsorships
- Good communication skills
- Computer literate
- All staff are required to have a Sexual Clearance certificate, Criminal Clearance Certificate and Child Protection Register clearance certificate
