St Katharine’s is a small, independent, multi-cultural junior school for girls based in Parktown, Johannesburg. Founded in 1916, the school enjoys a robust history, yet remains at the forefront of modern global trends in education. The school strives to develop a relaxed, happy environment where children are allowed to be individuals and are encouraged to think both deeply and independently.

St Katharine’s is wishing to appoint a progressive, compassionate and committed Headmistress who will continue to drive, encourage and lead the staff and girls into the next chapter of the school’s existence.

Applicants with professional qualifications for a senior leadership position in an Independent South African Girls’ school are invited to apply for the role. Candidates should be committed to the education of girls. Energetic and goal-oriented leaders, with a proven track record of strong organisational, managerial, administrative and communication skills, are invited to apply. We wish to appoint someone with the vision and drive to grow and develop our School. The applicant should also demonstrate a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing South Africa and be committed to the education processes required in this context.

Candidates should ideally display the following qualities and characteristics:

  • An appropriate professional qualification, combined with educational experience
  • A minimum of 5 years senior managerial experience in a schooling environment
  • Comprehensive appreciation of the legislative requirements of schools
  • Proven track record of leadership and exceptional communication skills
