WPPS wishes to advertise for a Head of Sport.
Qualifications:
- Professional qualifications and affiliations as required for working in a school environment.
- Varied experience, having demonstrated ability to independently develop professional connections and skills.
- Demonstrated expertise in listening and understanding needs, as well as in introducing new ideas.
Key Requirements:
- Must be aligned as a custodian of the WPPS identity, belonging, sustainability and community engagement imperatives.
- A dynamic leader with sound knowledge of the purpose of sport in an independent, boys-only, Preparatory School.
- Must have a philosophy of education in alignment with the WPPS vision.
- Demonstrated ability with strategic implementation.
- Must be an effective communicator, organiser, and analytical thinker.
- Demonstrated ability to lead various stakeholders towards a common purpose.
Vision and Strategy:
- Provide inspiration and support for staff and boys in developing and implementing sporting strategies across various codes of sport.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of boys’ physical and emotional development, the ability to use research and evidence to make decisions and drive the changes made to the sporting programme.
- Support the development of a community-wide common language around the WPPS sporting philosophy, including staff, boys, families, and the local community. Reach out to “outside” communities to collaborate and form partnerships.
- Create safe physical and emotional spaces for teachers and boys to explore and develop innovative approaches to the sporting programme. Support a cultural shift towards more collaboration.
- Establish long-term and quarterly goals for sporting growth milestones within the community.
- Develop a creative and innovative Physical Education programme that integrates well into the development of the sporting philosophy.
- As a member of the HOD team, contribute to the development of detailed annual plans related to staff and student well-being and learning progression.
