AUBURN HOUSE MONTESSORI SCHOOL

Auburn House Pre-Primary, Primary and Middle School (Grade 00-9) is an English medium, co-educational, independent School situated in Kenilworth, Cape Town. The school was founded in 1983 and has provided excellent holistic education for 38 years.

The Board of Governors seeks a self-driven, learner-centered educator and leader for the full-time position as Head of School with effect from 1 June 2021.

The Successful candidate will:

• have a recognised Degree and/or a 4-year post-matric qualification and/or an equivalent educational professional qualification in alternative education;
• have a preferred, but not required, minimum of 3 years working in a Montessori classroom and be suitably qualified in experience and application of the Montessori method of teaching and learning;
• be prepared to continue to work with the children on a daily basis;
• possess strong knowledge and be able to implement the Montessori philosophy and methodology;
• have a successful track record in the role of senior leadership within a school of standing and excellence;
• be fully conversant with current trends and developments within educational fields;
• have the ability to challenge and inspire children;
• be an innovative and visionary leader with a strong educational business sense;
• use essential organisational and management skills in all areas of a school;
• monitor the quality of teaching and learning to ensure that it is relevant and fully reflective of the school’s core philosophy;
• manage, inspire and evaluate a diverse teaching staff;
• commit to ongoing personal and professional development to enhance the leadership of the school;
• have financial acumen;
• be SACE registered.
