Oakhill School, a co-educational day school situated in the beautiful town of Knysna, on the Garden Route seeks to appoint a Head of School of remarkable quality with a passion for progressive education and the energy to drive the continued growth of our unique school. Head of School

The Head of School is the most senior management position on the operational team in the school and chairs the Whole School Executive Committee and reports to the Chair of the Oakhill Board. The person in this role leads and is accountable for all the educational operations of the school from Grade 000 to Grade 12, as well as the non-educational operations, including maintenance, HR, performance management, marketing and finances. The Heads report directly to the Head of School to assist with the smooth running of the school. In addition to the operational duties of this role, the Head of School also shares the responsibility with the Board of developing and executing the strategic vision for the school. The Head of School is expected to take a keen interest in the students in all aspects of school life and to fulfill a key role in public relations with parents and the broader community.

The position is on the Top Management level with strategic input and requirements pertaining to:

  • Representing the school as Leader and Figurehead internally as well as externally
  • Enhancing and advancing the Oakhill Brand
  • Establishing and maintaining a high corporate ethos and drive for Academic Excellence and Teacher-Student interaction, relationship, and growth
  • Continuously striving for and providing education of excellence
  • Encourage, continue, and advance the Oakhill evolution with progressive advanced educational developments, tools and methods
  • Encourage and create opportunities for staff to optimally develop and attain their career goals
  • Actively strive for and use opportunities for Oakhill to develop and grow as a going concern
  • Market and propagate Oakhill as the learning institution of choice and excellence
  • Have a proven track record of being involved in effective fundraising initiatives
  • Have a proven track record of effective conflict resolution competencies
  • Have a recognised professional educational qualification, preferentially a masters’ degree in education and current SACE registration
