SAHETI School is an independent, co-educational, English-medium school dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, whilst promoting the values and ethos of Hellenism. The school is situated in Bedfordview, Johannesburg.
Applications are invited for an energetic Head of Rugby, who meets the below listed pre-requisites, to join the High school Sports Department.
Minimum Requirements:
- Proven experience in managing/administrating rugby in a school environment.
- Previous involvement in a well-organized Physical Education program which formed part of the school curriculum;
- Willingness to participate fully in the school’s broader extramural sport program where necessary, outside of rugby;
- Effective verbal and written communication skills;
- A passion for sport, children and the development of both;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook; and
- Possession of a valid driver’s licence code EB.
Any of the following will be advantageous:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role managing school sports programs.
- Experience organizing inter-school matches, tournaments, and events.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, for liaising with staff, students, and parents.
- Proficient in planning, administration, and budgeting for sports resources and logistics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:
- Coordinating the rugby programme in consultation with the HOD Sport;
- Supervising PE lessons and ensuring a safe environment for all students;
- Training and coaching school sports teams;
- Evaluating the performance of students throughout the academic year;
- Managing sports equipment
- Ability to inspire and motivate students, fostering a positive and disciplined rugby culture
- Strong planning and organizational skills to manage the various facets of the rugby program effectively.
- Passionate about rugby and committed to developing students’ skills and sportsmanship
- Organized, energetic, and a self-motivated team player.
- Competency in first aid and athlete welfare best practices
- Willingness to participate in full sports calendar – including after-school training and weekend fixtures
