Reddam House Durbanville offers the Cambridge International Lower Secondary Science curriculum in Grade 8 & 9. The College provides students from Grade 10 the opportunity to take one of two curricula: the very best in international education in the Cambridge International curriculum or the top South African Independent Examinations Board (IEB) schools’ curriculum.

The successful candidate will be expected to adopt a holistic view of students in their care, promoting the general progress and well-being of individuals and of any class or group assigned to them. They will create a positive learning environment and motivate students to achieve to their full potential.

Duties include:

  • Attend all AGMs of sports codes
  • Appoint and manage teacher sport managers and part-time coaches
  • Interview, select and contract all part-time coaches
  • Draw up and communicate all fixture lists
  • Manage fixture bookings, transport, catering, venues etc
  • Be present at all fixtures and visibly support all sports
  • Manage parent and coach communications in a professional manner
  • Manage inter-house events e.g. athletics and swimming events
  • Manage all sports’ awards events i.e. sports awards assemblies; sports’ dinners etc
  • Oversee the colours’ committee and colours’ awards
  • Manage extra-murals and administration
  • Manage extra-mural photographs and magazine articles
  • Keep sports’ notice boards and announcements updated
  • Attend staff meetings, assemblies and parent liaison meetings
  • Manage equipment and keep control of stock
  • Manage sporting uniforms
  • Manage behaviour related to all sporting codes on and off the field
  • Manage sports’ tours
  • Host sporting guests and manage these events
  • Co-ordinate and manage school camps and tours
  • Manage OHS portfolio

Requirements of the role:

  • Teaching diploma or an undergraduate degree with a postgraduate teaching diploma
  • SACE registered
  • Several years’ teaching experience
  • A love and passion for Sport.

  • Ability to connect effectively with children
  • A thorough understanding of the subject material that you will be teaching
  • Ability to be a role model
  • Ability to reflect on own practice
  • Good planning, organisational and reporting skills
  • Good communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
  • Good time management skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and strong team orientation
