HEAD OF MUSIC
Grayston Preparatory School is an independent, co-educational preparatory school with a values-based ethos situated in Sandown, Sandton.
Applicants for a Head of Music should fulfil the following requirements:
- Hold a B.Mus or equivalent qualification, with SACE registration
- Have at least 3-5 years of experience as a music teacher, preferably in a leadership position
- Have the ability to lead a team of experienced and non-experienced class music and instrumental teachers
- Display a creative interest in the teaching and learning of Music
- The ability to teach another subject apart from Music would be advantageous
- Have excellent people skills and be able to work positively with children and parents
- Display excellent managerial, interpersonal and organisational skills
- Have the ability to teach class music creatively from Grade 000 to Grade 7
- Have the ability to teach Orff, Marimbas and Choir as well as strong ensemble skills
- Exhibit a proven ability to host and prepare children for music festivals, soirees and concerts
- Be a proficient accompanist, preferably Grade 8 level or above, to accompany the school in assembly and school concerts
- Show a willingness to keep up-to-date with the trends in the educational sphere
- Be self-motivated and energetic
- Experience in an ISASA school would be an advantage
- Be willing to participate fully in the life of the School, its programmes and projects.
