Uplands is an Anglican, co-educational, innovative independent school located on an extensive estate in White River, close to the Kruger National Park. We are committed to providing quality education to day and boarding pupils ranging from Grade 0000 – 12.

Uplands is a member of the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA) and the Anglican Board of Education of South Africa (ABESA) and offers examinations set by the Independent Examination Board (IEB).

Uplands College wishes to appoint a passionate and dynamic Head of House to join our pastoral management team. We are seeking an individual who is motivated, hardworking, and sociable. You will be responsible for the oversight of pastoral care of the day scholars (boys) and boarders (girls) in your House. You will also work as part of a dynamic team to help develop a boarding residence that both pupils and staff are proud to be a part of. You must focus on the development of pastoral practices and provide our staff with a range of professional development opportunities.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have a suitable professional qualification and be SACE registered.
  • Have a minimum of 10 years of teaching experience, preferably in an independent school.
  • Have a good knowledge of, and experience in, pastoral care and discipline.
  • Enhance individual and collective wellbeing within the House and broader Uplands community.
  • Be genuinely passionate to make a difference in pupils’ lives.
  • Be willing to work as part of a team and assist with general duties as and when required.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with others to achieve various goals and objectives.
  • Be responsible for arranging weekend activities for boarders.
  • Have a proven record of commitment and professionalism towards pastoral care and education.
  • Be willing to participate fully in the extra-curricular programme and all school activities

The ability to teach Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences or English would be advantageous.
