Head of English

Date of Commencement – 1 April 2024

The ideal candidate should demonstrate an awareness of the centrality of language and of literature as tools for pupils to negotiate, understand and enrich their world. A wide-ranging reading history will be especially valued.

Requirements for the above post include experience in teaching the IEB Curriculum, IT integrated teaching, excellent administrative skills and the ability to teach from Grade 8 to Grade 12. Experience with the teaching of Further Studies English will be an advantage but is
not essential.

The candidate must have a proven track record comprising innovation and the ability to promote a creative, stimulating environment. The successful candidate will have strong emotional intelligence and be a visionary leader able to guide a team of dedicated and committed staff within the English Department.

A university degree, teaching qualifications, SACE registration and a minimum of at least seven years’ teaching experience are prerequisites for this teaching position.

Social transformation, social justice and diversity are pivotal components and teaching and learning at St Mary’s DSG.
