Applications are invited for the following permanent position commencing in September 2024.

Applicants should :

  • hold a Bachelor of Education and/or Post Graduate Certificate in Education
  • be registered with SACE
  • have at least five-to-eight years of experience in a similar position with an ability to
    map the Sciences curriculum (Natural Sciences, Biology, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences) and teach Grades 8 to 12
  • understand current best practices in education
  • have experience in managing a team
  • have proven school leadership/management experience
  • have marking experience of National IEB Grade 12 Examinations

  • demonstrate a capacity to work effectively in a team
  • commit to personal growth and the development of others
  • have leadership and management-modeling skills
  • demonstrate high levels of professionalism
  • have a willingness to engage with students and their families on a personal level to help children in the best way possible
  • be analytical and possess critical thinking and writing skills
  • be driven to achieve the best possible results for students
  • possess knowledge of using ICT to enhance teaching and to complete administration
  • support the Catholic ethos of the school
  • commit to the school’s transformation, equity and belonging strategic objectives in support of an equitable, inclusive and safe school environment for all

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • take a leading role in managing and coordinating the department
  • provide curriculum leadership for the department
  • monitor the quality of teaching and learning in the department
  • approve departmental strategies for student assessment
  • monitor student performance in the department
  • approve the purchase of teaching and learning materials
  • know about curriculum design; specifically the ability to design Physical Sciences and Natural Sciences curricula
  • be responsible for all duties required of a teacher
  • lead a classroom first by example of conduct and then by instructing students through excellent teaching
  • set and mark assessments, and other duties, as may be required by the head of the department
  • have the ability and skill to identify students’ deficits and remediate these deficits
