St Catherine’s School is a co-educational Catholic day school situated in Parkhill Gardens, Germiston. The school was established in 1908 by the Newcastle Dominican Sisters and educates pupils from Grade 000 to Matric. The school is registered with the I.E.B. and is a member of both I.S.A.S.A. and the Catholic Schools’ Office. St Catherine’s is currently experiencing a period of growth and aims to be the leading provider of quality education on the East Rand.

HEAD OF DEPARTMENT (SENIOR SCHOOL)

Commencement date: January 2025

We seek to appoint a dynamic, appropriately qualified graduate teacher in this management post. Experience in teaching in an independent school would be advantageous, but is not a pre-requisite.

Further requirements include the following:

  • At least 3 years’ teaching experience
  • Support of the school’s religious ethos
  • A willingness to participate fully in the school’s co-curricular programme
  • Computer literacy
  • Excellent inter-personal skills
  • Sound organizational and administrative skills
  • A proven track record at F.E.T. level
  • Sound knowledge of both the G.E.T. and F.E.T. curricular offering
  • Strong leadership skills and a high degree of flexibility
  • A willingness to exercise oversight over staff members who teach in a related field of study
  • A.C.E. registration
  • Police clearance certificate
