 Role Description

Lead our vibrant senior preparatory and junior high learning community in Chartwell and help to shape and grow our Senior Prep & Junior High campuses.

We are looking for a Head to lead our Broadacres Academy Senior Prep and Junior High at our Chartwell campus (Gr. 4 9).

Broadacres Academy (Pre, Prep & High) is part of Skye Education’s family of independent schools across
Broadacres (Pre –& Foundation phase), Chartwell (Senior Prep & High), Honeydew, and other new prospects in
Gauteng and beyond. You can think of it as Broadacres Academy, a Skye Education school.

Our Broadacres Academy schools are located across two campuses, one in Syringa Avenue, Broadacres (Preschool & Foundation phase) and a second in neighboring Chartwell (Senior Prep & High School). At present we have more than 800 learners across our Pre –, Prep School and High Schools, which we expect to grow to more than 1,600 learners in the next couple of years.

In the short term, our Head of our Chartwell campus will be responsible for leading the Senior Prep and Junior High schools and building a community where students thrive.

In the medium term, the successful candidate may over time help us to spread to many more learning communities, helping us to provide an education to thrive to as many learners as possible.

Accountable to:

Executive Head of Broadacres Schools (Pre, Prep & High)

Key result areas:

The successful candidate will help lead the school to its True North. He or she can expect to spend most of their time on the development of the learning community.

Below we illustrate key results areas:


  • Provide input in the formulation of the school’s strategy;
  • Provide clarity to the organisation on the school’s objectives;
  • Provide clarity and support to the rest of the preparatory school on how to execute our strategy;


  • Our Teachers (“PLC”):
    • Hire and retain talented teachers;
    • Ensure our teachers are developed and equipped to support our learners;
    • Direct involvement in the evaluation of teaching in the classroom;
    • Equip teachers to implement evidence based teaching and learning strategies
    • Create a supportive environment and minimise non educational demands on teachers;
  • Our Learners:
    • Owns our instructional leadership, entrenching the ‘Broadacres way’ of learning, naturally
    • Actively champions the wholesome development of our learners;
    • Make sure our learners are safe;
    • Ensure priority education goals are resourced;
  • Our Parents:
    • Maintain personal relationships with our parents;
  • Our Community:
    • Help build a strong reputation for the school;


  • Provide input on the design and development of any expansions of our learning community.


  • Ensure that the school has effective internal systems, processes, policies and procedures;
  • Collaborate with our CORE Support team (as the case may be);


  • Develop, together with the Executive Head, an annual operating budget and financial targets for the school;
  • Takes full responsibility for delivery of budgets;


  • Market related and dependent on the strength of the candidate (e.g., experience, qualifications, etc.).

Qualifications & Experience:

Our ideal candidate will have these attributes:

  • Recognised degree and/or relevant teaching qualification;
  • Masters’ degree or higher advantageous;
  • Excellent reputation and track record;
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience;
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar management role;
  • Demonstrated success in implementing research based internationally minded educational best practice;
  • Experience in implementing IEB advantageous;
  • Registered at SACE.
