Hermitage House, an independent co-educational day school which runs from Crèche to Grade 7 and is situated in the Sundays River Valley, near Addo, invites applications for the following post:

GRADE 00 CLASS TEACHER – Maternity leave cover.

The position is a temporary position available from 13 January 2025 – 13 May 2025.

The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher who holds a Bachelor of Education: ECD degree or a PGCE, and must have full proof of SACE registration and a Police clearance certificate. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a stimulating environment. Previous experience in independent education is an advantage, but is not essential.

In addition, the applicant will:

  • Be well-versed in curriculum and assessment for the ECD Phase.
  • Be well versed in the written and spoken language of English and Afrikaans.
  • Be required to uphold the Christian ethos and values of the School.
  • Be energetic and creative.
  • Be passionate about teaching, learning and young people.
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have a sound understanding of the ECD learner.
  • Be prepared to play a full and active role in the co-curricular life of the school.
