The International School of Cape Town (ISCT) is one of the largest Cambridge schools in the country, offering the British curriculum from Nursery and Cambridge from High School to A level, since 1998. General Maintenance Worker
with effect from 5th May 2025, or as soon as possible
Are you hands-on, with a knack for repairs and facilities upkeep? We’re looking for you! We are seeking a skilled General Maintenance Worker to join our team and ensure our facilities remain in top condition.
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience in general maintenance or a related field.
- Recent Police clearance check.
Experience working in a school environment and having a valid driver’s licence will be advantageous.
Core Responsibilities, but are not limited to:
- Building Maintenance – Repair and upkeep of fixtures, doors, windows, and walls
- General Repairs – Fix taps, replace light bulbs, patch walls, and paint
- Plumbing – Unclog drains, repair leaks, and handle minor plumbing issues
- Electrical Work – Basic repairs to outlets, switches, and light fixtures
- Groundskeeping – Mowing lawns, trimming hedges, watering plants, and general landscaping
- Outdoor Cleaning – Maintain walkways, parking areas, and communal spaces
- Safety Checks – Regularly inspect facilities and report hazards
Key Skills Required:
- Basic plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and repairs
- Ability to identify and resolve maintenance issues
- Comfortable with lifting, climbing, and outdoor work
- Ensure work is completed thoroughly and accurately
- Communicate well with teammates and supervisors
- Collaborate effectively to keep buildings and grounds in top condition
- Punctual, professional, and adaptable
- Take initiative and work independently
- Ability to work independently and take initiative when necessary.
- Complete tasks within deadlines
