FULL TIME FOUNDATION PHASE EDUCATOR

We are currently looking for a friendly and competent Foundation Phase educator to join our team. This position will be primarily stationed in the Grade 1 class. If you are a compassionate and self-motivated individual with a specific interest in education, we urge you to apply! Date: Available from October 2024.

Location: New Hanover, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

Educator Responsibilities:

  • Help students apply concepts through classroom instruction and presentations.
  • Organising, facilitation and planning of lessons; teaching approximately 20 hours a week.
  • To plan, control, record and report on Assessments.
  • Manage the classroom to create an educational atmosphere in the classroom.
  • To manage, plan, assist and promote discipline within your class.
  • To attend meetings, forums, workshops for the grade/ phase as required.
  • To be responsible for any and all school equipment and stock in the control of the teacher and class.
  • Collaborate with the teachers in the different Grades
  • To assist and promote extra mural and cultural activities within the School.
  • Ensure the classroom environment is safe and clean.
  • Manage and oversee students during non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch, and on field excursions.
  • Document student progress and communicate with parents to keep them informed.
  • Attend all training classes, parent conferences, and faculty meetings.

Educator Requirements:

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed) or Bachelor’s Degree + Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) – (Foundation phase)
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in education.
  • Solid understanding of classroom activities and teaching best practices.
  • Must have a compassionate and positive attitude with outstanding interpersonal and presentation abilities.
  • Flexible and willing to learn, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Personal commitment to Christian education and a willingness to contribute to the values and ethos of the school is essential.
  • Commitment to the establishment of and involvement in the school’s extra-curricular programme.
  • Computer literate and confident working with technology within the classroom.
  • Be in possession of a valid Police Clearance Certificate.
  • SACE registered (Kindly provide registration number and certificate in application)
  • Be self-motivated and disciplined and use social media responsibly
