Facilities Manager

Job Summary:
The Facilities Manager oversees the daily operations of school facilities to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient environment. This includes managing health and safety, utilities, maintenance, insurance, and supporting the business manager. The role requires on-campus residency.

Qualifications:

  • Gr 12 (Minimum requirement)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities, Technical, Project Management, or a related field
  • 5+ years of facilities management experience, preferably in education
  • Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993
  • First Aid, Fire Fighting, and Health and Safety certifications preferred

Skills:

  • Excellent organisational, administrative, and communication skills
  • Proficient in facilities management software
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and project management abilities
  • Valid driver’s license

Key Responsibilities:

  • Health & Safety (30%): Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, manage safety representatives, conduct drills, and oversee training.
  • Utilities (25%): Maintain sewage, water systems, electrical usage, and generator management.
  • Maintenance (25%): Conduct general and preventive maintenance, ensuring all machines and equipment are operational.
  • Insurance (5%): Manage claims and follow up on progress.
  • Inventory (5%): Maintain and check classroom furniture inventory.
  • Support to Business Manager (10%): Assist with HR functions, finance, and tenant management.
