Bridge House is an independent, co-educational, day and boarding school situated close to Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and Paarl in the Western Cape. The school is seeking to appoint a teacher to the following position:

English Teacher: Grades 8 to 12

Starting Date: 1 January 2022 or soonest thereafter

The successful candidate will be an exceptional individual.

They will have:

  • A recognised degree and/or a 4-year professional teaching qualification
  • A creative and passionate outlook towards education.
  • Experience of teaching the IEB English curriculum to Grade 12 level.
  • Experience of having taught the Advanced Programme English curriculum will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge in creating varied, relevant and innovative learning programmes and assessments.
  • A personal interest in reading and continuous learning.
  • The ability to create a classroom environment, and contribute to a department, where all views are respected and all are united in the creation of knowledge
  • The ability to incorporate the use of technology to make the teaching of the English curriculum exceptional.
  • A desire to evaluate, reflect on and refine own teaching practice
  • Excellent organisational skills with an ethos of sharing and collaboration within a team
  • Excellent time-management
  • A willingness to participate fully in the life of the school and in extra-curricular activities.
