Maru-a-Pula School invites applications for the following role:
REVIEW OF ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE (ACADEMIC AND NON-TEACHING STAFF)
INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
Maru-a-Pula (“MaP” or “the School”) is a co-educational, independent day and boarding secondary school in Botswana, with a reputation as one of Africa’s premier academic institutions. Founded in 1972, MaP was established as a non- profit trust, built on 50 acres of land donated by the Botswana Government. The founding Head, Deane Yates, launched the school based on multiracial ideals, with community outreach as a core principle. The school aims to nurture students who are deeply committed to helping their communities, both locally and globally.
When the School was established, a School Council was formed as a self- governing body. The Council is mandated to guide the School in accordance with the objects and principles set out in the School’s Constitution, Mission and Vision, as well the objectives contained in the School’s strategic plans.
In January 2021 the Council appointed a new principal to head the school and in June 2022 approved a new School strategy dubbed “Strategy 2027: Defining & Embracing Change”. The School now seeks to review and implement a new organisational structure for its academic and non-teaching staff.
OBJECTIVES OF THE ENGAGEMENT
The School seeks to have in place a new fit-for-purpose organisational structure supported by a competitive, sustainable remuneration and benefits structure. The School therefore seeks to engage the services of a consultant or firm of consultants well vested in organisational design especially for independent schools regionally and globally. Specifically, the scope of work includes the following, to:
review the School’s current organisational structures as it pertains to academic staff and non-teaching staff in order to highlight challenges, gaps, inconsistencies as well as opportunities;
propose a revised organisational structure, covering the activities undertaken by academic and non-teaching staff, that is consistent with common practice in independent schools locally,
regionally and internationally (where applicable); and to
develop job profiles for each distinct job position identified in the new organisational structure.
Situational Analysis Report outlining the outcomes for the review of the current organisational structure.
A proposed new organisational structure for academic and non-teaching staff.
Documented job profiles for job roles in the new organisational structure.
The school seeks to have the project commence immediately. Proposals are due on or before 6th February 2023. Please send all documentation to the principal’s office. E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
