Director of Water Polo

St Alban’s College seeks to appoint a Director of Water Polo. The successful applicant will have demonstrated success in the coaching of Water Polo in a competitive school, will have experience of all structures pertaining to the game, and will have a strong network in the sport through which to identify talented players and develop them fully. The appointee will report to our Director of Sport.

Requirements:

  • School first team and provincial coaching experience
  • A teaching qualification will be advantageous

Job Description

  • To establish standards and norms for the St Alban’s College Water Polo Club and a coaching structure that will enable boys with potential to reach their goal and to allow each boy at St Alban’s College to improve his skills to the best of his ability.
  • To provide the vision and strategy for the Club to grow and be competitive amongst like-minded schools.
  • To develop coaching schemes that will allow each coach to do so to the best of his/her ability and, in so doing, each boy will benefit from the coaching structure.
  • To promote the game of Water Polo at St Alban’s College, to celebrate the success of the boys and to actively seek to learn about each and every Water Polo player.
  • To promote the game of Water Polo amongst our parents and to make them feel welcome when they attend matches.
  • To develop initiatives for Water Polo that will allow us to “add value” to the broader community and seek ways of enhancing the Water Polo brand and reputation of St Alban’s College by way of festivals and development clinics.
  • To add value to the provincial structures and to promote St Alban’s College through these structures.
  • To devise match and practice schedules to ensure that all players receive opportunities to develop their game and experience the full range of facilities.
  • To provide reports for assemblies that focus on the significant individual and team achievements of the previous weeks.
  • To teach as a member of the Physical Education Department; this may include other activities and sports.
  • To coach the 1st Team and take a direct interest in the performance of all teams in the Club.
  • To help organize and coordinate Water Polo festivals here at the College with the help of the Director of Sport.
