Clifton Nottingham Road invites applications for a Director of Sport role.
Clifton Preparatory School is an independent co-educational school offering schooling from Grade 000 to Grade 7,
with boarders from Grade 1 to Grade 7. Founded in 1942, Clifton is set on a 64-hectare estate in the KZN Midlands.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Sport to lead and manage our extensive sports programme.
The successful candidate will have a strategic vision for sports at Clifton and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the sports department. This role is ideal for a dynamic leader who can inspire staff and students to achieve excellence in sports while promoting the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal best.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Coordination: Lead the sports department, ensuring a cohesive and varied sports programme aligned with the school’s vision.
- Programme Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive sports curriculum, overseeing events and evaluating programme effectiveness.
- Community & Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with parents, local schools, and the broader community, promoting Clifton’s sports programme.
- Administration & Budget Management: Manage the sports budget and oversee all administrative tasks, including scheduling and resource allocation.
- Staff Development: Mentor and support sports staff and coaches, facilitating their professional growth and maintaining high standards.
Requirements:
- A relevant degree and complete SACE registration.
- A minimum of three years experience in teaching and leading sports programmes, with a proven track record of success.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to manage a diverse team and multiple projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, staff, parents, and the broader community.
- A passion for sports and a commitment to fostering a culture of physical activity and sportsmanship at Clifton.
- The ability to work under pressure, handle fluctuating workloads, and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Willingness to participate fully in the life of the school, including involvement in extra-mural activities.
