Deputy Principal of Upper School – Pastoral Affairs

Preferred Experience and Skills required:

  • Experience at the managerial level within the school structure (HOD and, or Deputy Principal experience is preferable)
  • Excellent knowledge of good educational practice and the means to promote excellent standards of teaching academic performance
  • Good understanding of, and experience in, student and staff discipline procedures, policies and disciplinary procedure(s)
  • Strong collaborative skills, to develop and promote the ethos of the whole school
  • Ability to develop/mentor/coach/manage staff and students, and monitor their performance
  • Commitment to the values and ethos of Lebone II ‐ College of the Royal Bafokeng
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
  • The requisite academic qualifications (at least a Bachelor’s degree and SACE Registration Certificate).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Principal of Upper School, the Deputy Principal is responsible for overseeing the effective administration, functioning and development of the Upper School ethos and welfare (primarily), in collaboration with the Lower School. The successful candidate will coordinate meetings and work closely, meaningfully and effectively with the senior management of the Upper School.
  • To play a major role under the direction of the Upper School Principal in formulating the aims and objectives of the College,
    establishing the policies through which they shall be achieved, managing staff and resources to achieve the aims and objectives of the
    College and monitor progress towards their achievement.
  • Teaching is part of the role (please state subject(s) taught).
  • Undertake the professional duties of the Deputy Principal reasonably delegated to you by the Upper School Principal.
  • Undertake the professional duties of the Principal, in the event of his absence from the school.
  • To provide professional leadership and management of the College’s Strategic Plan priorities, as directed by the Executive Head and
    the Upper School Principal.
  • Advise staff about start of term and end of term arrangements in liaison with the Upper School Principal.
  • To assist the Upper School Principal in the pastoral care and good discipline of pupils.
