Clifton School, an independent day school for boys that runs from Grade R to Grade 12 and is situated in Morningside in Durban, invites applications for the following position:

DEPUTY PRINCIPAL: COLLEGE

(to commence duty 1st January 2023)

The successful candidate must:

  • Be energetic and creative with drive and initiative.
  • Be an experienced and well-qualified teacher who holds an appropriate degree and relevant PGCE, or a professional teaching qualification.
  • Be registered with SACE.
  • Have experience at high school management level.
  • Have teaching experience in a boys’ high school. Experience in independent education will be an advantage.
  • Be a current Senior Housemaster of a boarding establishment in a high school.

This role involves heading up the school’s soon to be built Boarding Establishment as Senior Housemaster. As such this significant role is a full-time live-in position which includes:

  • Strategic input into drafting and developing policies and procedures relevant to the new boarding establishment.
  • Ensuring that the school’s safeguarding policies on child protection and health and safety are implemented effectively in the house.
  • Share in the various deputy portfolios, as determined by the Executive Headmaster from time to time.
  • Teaching a limited timetable.

The Deputy Principal reports to the Executive Headmaster and is involved in the day-to-day running of the College, as well as the well-being of the College pupils and staff.
